Computer tip

Download DeviceCleanupCmd. Not the GUI version. Unzip the file to a folder on your desktop. In that folder is a folder called x64. Copy this folder to the root of C.\.

Unmount every external drive (Safely Eject) and detach the cable. Do a complete shutdown. Open a command prompt and type

shutdown /f /s /t 0

Boot the computer and open Device Manager. If you still see WFD errors, stop. The following will most likely not work.

Open an elevated command prompt. Type CMD in the search box > Right click run as Administrator. Type the following commands

cd c:x64
devicecleanupcmd *

This removes all non-present devices. After it has finished attaching a external device will reinstall the driver.

Attach one device at a time. After you attach one drive open Device Manager. Do you have a yellow exclamation mark before WPD file system? Because this was a downgrade from 8.1 perhaps Windows 7 does not have the correct driver for the UMBus Enumerator.
